I was trying to create neon text and having some problems. Is there a tutorial that shows how to do this?

I think neon effects are easier in Xara X than in previous versions. X has its bevel, glow shadow, and contour tools to help. In the attached example I used all those tools on an appropriately thin-lined font. I used the contour tool and its "inset path" option to make even thiner versions of the font (shape) which were given slightly different colours and placed on top for richer highlights. That technique was appropriate given the size of the image - if I were creating a smaller image I wouldn't have bothered with those highlights. Beveled text and a glow shadow are quite effective by themselves at smaller font sizes.

    Thanks Penny.

The neon Eye was a redo of one of the very first tutorials which was done I believe in CorelDRAW 5.

The April 2000 tutorial takes advantages of Xara's strengths and new tools.

Maybe I should post it in Ross's Eyeball thread :-)

The techniques from the tutorial can be applied to almost anything you can draw.
