If I want to show a picture directly in the topic, how must I do that?

    Antony,
    I apologize.

    Hello Coby,

If you have the image on a web site you can insert the URL within the text of your post.

The above image is on my site on another server.

    Thanks Soquili,

Do you mean that if I have it on my HD that this is not possible?

    Hi Coby,
If the image is on your hard drive ... use the paperclip icon to post the image. You will not see the image until you hit "Post Now", and the forum page is refreshed. Make sure the image is no larger than about 600pix wide and no more than 100k in size ... otherwise those with dialup connections will have trouble viewing.

    Thanks OklaEd,

But I tried that with a bmp in mijn xara X/X1 topic

    http://talkgraphics.com/groupee/foru...4767#189104767

but that was not directly shown on the page
maybe this was because it was a bmp file and not a jpg file?

I don't think bitmaps are supported (file size). You can use jpg gif and png.

    Hi Coby,

I think Egg ment that browsers (IE, Netscape, Firefox, Opera) will only display .gif, .jpg and maybe .png. With a plugin a browser can display flash files .swf.

    Hi Coby,
    Have we answered your question?

I noticed the link you gave referred to an "avatar" problem Dave Cowles was having. Are you trying to display an image in a post (which is what we have been trying to help with) ... or are you trying to create an avatar?

If it is the latter ... you might look through the older posts in this forum. There is quite a bit of info on creating an avatar. If you have any trouble ... just ask.

Yes, I am trying to display an image in a post

(I gave this example because I tried to show the picture immediately, but now it must be clicked on.)

    For example:
When I have a problem, I can explain it better with a picture that is shown directly.

I am perhaps not clear enough because of my bad English.
I have never learned English, but I am trying

    Hi Coby,

Your English looks fine to me. As Egg pointed out above, if you stay with a JPG, PNG, or GIF file you should be fine. Looking forward to your first post.
