Panfer,

I love the knife but don't use it to cut the glowing onion...who knows what might happen! Attack of the killer onion

I think the onion is well drawn, but maybe a little too transparent?

I don't think th onion is transparent, I think that it might make an illusino to you depending on how you view it, the lines in it are the texture of the onion. However, I do think that it could use a little more shading. But the knife and tray look very nice. good job

The shadow really helped, buuut, that's not exactly what I meant. The onion itself looks a little too 2D. Try adding some black transparencies on the lower left of the onion and see if that helps. Still a great pick!

The title of the thread threw me off! I was expecting to see something really terrible that had actually broken your spirit! I'm glad to see that you are well!

It is difficult to draw a photo-realistic image and it is also more difficult to draw if from "life" than a photo, so I'm very impressed by your determination and patience! Keep it up!

As for me, I enjoyed both of your images!

Panfer - here's a little tip to help your posted images look their best.

Notice how your export cropped the image at the drawn objects? That doesn't look so great and it makes me cry because it is such a fine drawing and it deserves better! Change your ways! What you can do before you export is draw a rectangle/square that represents what you'd like to export, select it and export. It will result in a image containing everything that was inside the shape.

It is an old webgraphics trick to give your web images a thin but visible lineweight border. Doing so makes the edges of the image look crisp. In xara it is easy - whatever line you use for the bounding shape will be visible in the export. If this sounds peculiar to you, look at some of my posts - most incorporate such a thin line.

Hope you'll get something from this. I'll stop crying eventually.

    Regards, Ross
