This is correctly work?

1. Create rectangle and line (Freehand and Brush Tool) on top rectangle
2. Make Subtract shapes -> break shapes.
You receive 4 shapes!
Why?
In CorelXara this operation works absolutely correctly( two parts rectangle) .
I use Xara X 1.0c DL2.
My xar-file is add.

Looks like a problem I used to have in X2 with ATI video cards. When I zoomed in, I'd see lines that didn't exist when I zoomed out to a normal magnification.

Never saw it on a Matrox card until earlier this spring, and then only once.

[Yes, Gary. We're finally back on line, although email will continue to be kinky for at least another three days. Whew! ]

Perhaps I did not understand you correctly, but is it this you mean (see attachment).

When I subtract, the edget of the line that fall out of the rectangle are cut off.

Thank for advice raffon.
I has enlarged a place, where occurs a line breakup under this operations.
Also has appeared, that the error takes place because of an intercrossing of side lines and addition of two new points.
I think, that this serious program bug as similar outcomes is possible to receive and at usage of the Pen Tool.

Regards, Budash.

Zoom in to where it breaks up (I went in 4500%) and you will see that it is not one continuous line. If you redraw the line it will work.

Hi Budash,

I never had CorelXara, but there are other people who can help you with this.
I have no command:

subtract shapes>break shapes

Perhaps this has changed in XaraX?

C'mon, CXara owners, who wants to help here?

Hi Erik!
Yes, operation "slice shapes" works correctly.
It is possible also "convert line to shape" before subtract operation.
But unless the combination "Subtract shapes -> break shapes" should not be of an equivalent command "slice shapes" on an final result?
And if is not present, why?

Regards, Budash

When using a line to slice a shape, its usefull to remember that the result differs depending on whether or not you converted the line to a shape first. When slicing, I believe that Xara considers the line to have no width. On the other hand, a shape always has geometrical attributes. My attempt at a visuall explanation follows:
