Who knows the difference between the gel and the multiply method!

In a layer set to the gel method, layer transparency is derived from the value of the layer's contents such that darker is more opaque and lighter is less so. (In effect, the layer's contents, desaturated, become the layer alphamask.) In multiply mode blending mimics the darkening effect you get when you sandwhich two slides together in a single holder and project them. (By contrast, devide mode mimics the lightening effect obtained when you place two images in their own projectors and project them to the same spot on the wall/screen.)
