I guess the best method would be to slice your image such that you end up with a slice the size that you want the 3D logo to appear on.
Produce the 3D logo and use the background slice as the background in Xara 3D. Export the animated gif for this slice then reconstruct the whole image in a table. This would keep the file size down. Does this make sense?
