Great use of colour!

Very crisp!

Nicely shaded!

I think it is an absolutely superb image!

Can't imagine what your second "attempt" will
look like...

5 stars awarded from me!

Welcome to the XaraXone!

Very nice. I especially like your background. Your use of shading on the ship is great - are you sure you haven't done dozens of these things?

If I could be at all picky I'd note that the "NX-7405" on the side, strikes me as not skewed or moulded quite right. Part of the letters look italic whilst others don't. It's a small thing and I must admit to never having seen the actual ship

Thanks for your kind comments Risto, Ross and panfer.

Ross, you are perfectly correct in your
observation about the lettering.I had planned to
curve the text over the side of the engine but it
completely slipped my mind.
By the way, as all trekkies will know the Defiant
is the starship from Deep Space Nine.

As I said before I am no artist, so to start off
I traced the outline of the major parts of the
craft from a scanned picture.
I then took some time filling in the colours, the shadings and the detail. It took me about 3 months
on and off.

I hope its not OTT to say that this picture was
only possible thanks to Gary's tutorials and the
tips and tutorials from everyone in this Forum.
And of course to the best vector program ever,
XaraX.

...If this is your first attempt Bill I shudder to think what you could do once you get adept with Xara X. Let's see some more images please.

Bill,

this looks like the beginning of a great career path! Never count the seconds to complete a project as long as the result will be outstanding. IMHO 3 months on/off for a non artist is speedy on a result like this one. Keep going, I'm waiting for the next surprise!

That's a nice ship you have done! Your probably already familiar with this site http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~trekart/trekart.htm . For others, dowload some of his great Xara files and marvel at the skill and effort involved in producing them. The best use of Xara I have ever seen. - Les
