Both anims start fine but slooow down as they play, interesting?! I noticed when the version on the right starts both run at the proper speed but soon slow until the anim on the right finishes. This pattern repeats.
Stu’s version and my original post seem to run properly.

I too noticed the slowing down of the Animations.
Looking at Troys optimised version of the gif, it would seem the only difference is that the frames in this anim use a different background replace method ("leave alone") to that of the original.
Maybe their is a quirk (read 'bug') for this type of format Animated Gifs and MSIE ?
