I'm trying to use Photoshop plug-ins with Corel PhotoPaint 9 and something is wrong. The initialization seems to be OK, but in
the Effects menu does not appears anything new.

I looked for info on Corel support pages and Internet; authors of the plug-ins claim that the plug-ins work fine with Photopaint.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you,

DanG

First find out in what drive / folder the third party plug-in filters were installed to.

Then in PhotoPaint go to menu option

Tools/options/workspace/plug-ins

and add the folder to the list.

That should do it.

Note that the Photoshop 5 filters that PhotoPaint can actually use are in the folders: \Plug-Ins\Effects & \Plug-Ins\Filters,
and that entries for both should be placed in PhotoPaint. One of the filters that PP will list, Variations, will not work.

I've found sometimes that the plugins will not be listed when the image is NOT 24-bit RGB.

No wonder. Not all the people write plugins for non-RGB images. For example, when I added Greyscale and Lab support for my own plug-ins (http://photoshop.msk.ru/), it was a real pain and the code got 50% bigger. Can't even imagine adding CMYK. What as to indexed modes, most of the good algorithms simply wouldn't work there.
