My contribution to the gallery. This thing wakes me every morning and I hate it

Please feel free to comment.

The drawing is almost finished but I would like to get some tip on how to make the housing look more plastic.

(I know the hands is'nt positioned right)

Hi Thomas,

Maybe a few more highlights on the clock will make it look more like plastic. I hope you don't mind, I downloaded your jpg and touched it up in XaraX. This was done quickly, so I'm sure you can make it look much better than I did.

Hello Thomas

I like your clock very much.

I think you could use some subtle linear fills to increase the glossy quality of the black case.

And if you add a subtle blue to white color to the clear plastic and a white highlight it will look more like clear plastic.

Thanks for your tip, was it something like this you meant ? I think it looks a little bit more plastic now.

Thomas - You had a nice clock and I had a nice desk so one thing led to another until your clock was placed on my desk! (Hope you don't mind my doing that). I think the combined image shows the importance of context - I'm thinking that the desk makes the clock look even better.

Hello Thomas,

Your clock looks great and I hope to see more of your creations!

It is also good to see a fellow Swede in the forums! Perhaps your next drawing could be of a box of "General Snus" That would give me something to drool over!

Hi Ross !

Putting the clock on your desktop certenly made it look better I think. I defenetly don't mind you did that, it's the way for me to learn.

Thanks Risto !

I'am addicted to "snus" as well, let's see what I can come up with.

What's this "General Snus" stuff you write about? I'm interested in anything that can be addicting. I also have an interest in Swedish culture (but I don't know much about it) - some of my ancestors were Swedish nobels (DeGeer family).

The "snus" is a old Swedish traditional tobacco product. It is sort of like chewing tobacco but ground finer. You make a "prilla" - I don't know how that translates but it's like a little ball that you place under your lip to suck on.

"General" is a specific blend.

Canadians that have seen snus have described the smell as that of "cat pee" or "pig manure"... It is an acquired taste but ooooh so good!

Next week's Swedish lesson:
"Sur Stromming" Sour/Fermented Herring...
