Re: A great alternative to Xara Xtreme on Linux

I wonder what makes you think that if xara for linux isn't developed very actively makes it a worse editor than one that releases a new version every half year, for example.
    If it works for people,...

    Re: instances in xara?

    Great :D

Have I said something that made you think I think one has to pay for the GPL Linux version of Xara LX?

I think more people are interested about on-screen redraw speed than in...
  4. Re: Where is the Portable C Xara Rendering Library?

Where did you get that from? Charles Moir has said this:

Says adapting to Linux, not adapting Linux kernel to CDraw.
If I have missed a post that says changes to the Linux kernel are required,...

    Re: instances in xara?

SVG is supported at least to some usable extent in both Firefox and Opera and there's a plug-in for Internet Explorer by both Adobe and Corel.
Want some programs that support it? Other major vector...

Re: where do I get Linux

    http://www.linux.org/docs/beginner/index.html

You should find some basic Q&A there.

I'd suggest Mandriva Linux for a first Linux installation, it's close to Windows in a few things, will...

    Re: merging project

besides, I think it's very unlikely, it would probably be easier to write a new program using a few libs from these two than to merge the code.

Re: Will it be GTK2+ / Gnome?

It doesn't have to use GTK2.6 native file dialogs, but I think it's likely, would give it a more consistent look when compared to the rest of gtk apps.
What's so bad about those dialogs anyway? The...

Re: Will it be GTK2+ / Gnome?

I asked Tor Lillqvist about this emulation thingy, here's what he said (used with permission):

"Who would be emulating what? Especially now with cairo, most of the low-level code has been designed...

Re: Will it be GTK2+ / Gnome?

emulated libraries? huh? GTK isn't an emulated library, it's just a set of GUI widgets, wxWidgets (formerly wxWindows) uses it on Linux or BSDs.
What kind of PC do you have? Inkscape loads after a...

Re: Will it be GTK2+ / Gnome?

No, wxWidgets != gtk (at least not quite), see:

    Re: XaraXtreme Plugins-native

As stated in the FAQ, they couldn't release 3rd party stuff (unless allowed to) under GPL, so it probably isn't the full package, unless they're freeware / shareware / demo plug-ins.
