you can change icons and the way xx looks...
download the Resource Hacker (freeware) and open the XaraXeng.dll or XaraXenu.dll (not sure) and you can edit bitmaps, icons, dialogs etc.

CADpro drafting software exports to .wmf and it's not expensive software (30$) but there's no demo for download :-(
But it has xarax like interface...

you can do it using acrobat reader... take a look at the 2. reply. the picture show's the tool: select the graphic element in pdf and save it as .bmp (only bmp is supported)

well... what to do with .pal files... put them in te palette folder inside xara's folder or import it from xara file>import menu, and then open the palette from the color gallery.
And now, about the...

i did that too, so when you copy selected part from a spreadsheet to clipboard, and try to paste it into xara, 4 options will be offered to you...
