I've got artrage, but it falls into the catagory of not often used; if I digitally paint I prefer corel painter which i have been using since it was macromedia fractal design painter, again 20 years...
the connection between stylus and computer is not really an issue; I was more thinking of a tablet and seperate computer going through the local network/router
a problem you likely won't have, if you have a tablet-computer, is latency

I've used wacom since 2003, never ever had an issue with them; currently have cintiq pro 24, probably not what you need...
what I will say is a battery-free cordless stylus is the only way to go;...
