  1. Poll: Re: Do you consider Xara has a future beyond milking the last penny out of loyal user

    I’m ‘unsure’.

I don’t personally like the strategic paths they have taken over the past few years and feel their heyday has probably passed with regard to their desktop apps. It’s been a long time...

    Re: coffee break poster

Freshly painted ;) Modiano Cigarette Papers, Art Deco Advert (1920s). Something I used enjoy with coffee over 30 years ago! (btw the font is Crandall).

Ernie, your new work is excellent, and I’m excited to follow this thread.

I read your previous post at the time and have just reread it just now. I had forgotten what a great method you had...

    Re: Recreate this fill

That's a great stereogram. I actually found it quite difficult to get started and then even further looking before the real depth appeared.

Just for fun (on my part mainly) I've made a quick crib...

    Re: Recreate this fill

Too late, but got there in the end. Used the line (80px, Mitre join, Butt cap) and art brush technique as per Acorn. The colour is a bit off, but could be adjusted by making a new art brush.

Re: Keyboard shortcup for filler text

Yikes, I bet that was a frustrating day. I used to feel awful when something like that happed to me, especially typos caused by last minute changes.

Back in the day, Aldus PageMaker (the...

Re: Keyboard shortcup for filler text

Just to add, you probably couldn't find it in help because Xara call it 'dummy text' rather than 'filler text' or 'placeholder text'.

They suggest remembering the shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + L) as...

    Re: Xara/MAGIX vs AFFINITY

Maybe we should we be grateful the programs keep working and don't revert to a demo mode like Pro+ where copy, save and export etc are disabled if you don’t handover your money!

    What's that you...

    Re: New functions coming soon

I guess I’m just fed up of the empty marketing hype being pumped out.

My curiosity was piqued though when the term ‘function’ was used rather than ‘feature’. More marketing trickery I expect. Or...

I'm still digesting haggis and the effects of a few wee drams, but from what I've deduced from reading wikipedia, this is a 'hand coloured' engraved version of the Alexander Nasmyth 1787 portrait,...
