What amazes me is that the source code of Xara and a linux version: XaraLX was published a decade ago. It actually had everything I love Xara for. In fact newer releases introduced nothing...
Well, it doesn't seems to me as something impossible. I thought it could be like a texture applied on a polygonal shape. You could export and replace the texture anytime in any 3d soft till all...
It's probably because you didn't feather bitmap edges or doing any levels editing. Those things perhaps are not supported within svg format and Xara rasterizes bitmap objects. Too bad Xara...
Are you sure? Svg export gives a few choices, maybe I choose a wrong one? But from what I see Xara just rasterize each bitmap object into a screen resolution images.
I need it to maintain bitmap fill but see bitmap objects coming rasterized.
I just like Xara. Simplicity and elegance of its core design makes it best image composing/editing tool imo. Every time I open Photoshop I miss Xara. Too bad it's too archaic for modern use. ...
I like Xara quick composing toolset very much. My problem I need to work with 16 bit grayscale depth images and more advanced blending math.
So I wonder is there a way to export bitmaps from...
Dear Xara, please make such pseudo 3d composing possible for bitmaps

Here is a Photoshop file example (you need to set "Move Tool V" to layers instead of groups and move green star, ...
I also turned to Photoshop but working in Photoshop I always feel pain and nostalgy of how easy and quick things in Xara were. Crop, copy, feather , and recompose, scatter along a curve, all in...
I also asking all the same things I did decade ago and multiple times.
1. 16 bit color depth for depth maps and other images to use in 3d CG
2. Lighter (max), subtract, erase blending modes...
1. 16 bit at least . better 32 bit per color / perhaps diferent color depth for different objects/layers . It's necessary to compose objects with "Z" depth value for modern materials in CG...
I have been waiting for years when Xara introduce something precious for me to buy an upgrade. I want to do so really but need something to pay for , something small at least.
One thing that...
Agree with layer compositions , Xara needs something like that. Maybe just a button to make specific name tagged objects only visible at first.
As of smart objects ,any bitmap in Xara has...
Well, Affinity specific forum may not necessarily have people who know Xara features so it would be not so easy to explain what Xara names mean.
Curious if Affinity has something like Xara name tags or Photoshop styled switchable layers compositions? Does it have a brush that could scatter randomly selected bitmap images like...
For me it's just 3 things in Xara over Illustrator
1.scattering random things with a brush ( possible in Illu but not so easy)
2. working with bitmap and bitmap fills
3. tag/name objects for...
Thanks Acorn for your suggestions, but would it be much easier if we could just use guide layer to put slices there and then export things with alpha automatically. It's what I do currently but it...
Hey Xara, your product suited perfectly for us game artists for a while. Xara has always been a single soft on the market that allows to compose textures easily . Not paint like Mari, Photoshop,...
thanks pauland
That Sketch looks interesting. Can it output 16 bit grey scale image( depth map)? Does it work with bit maps the same easy way as Xara? Easy crop, feather edges, easy bitmap replacement in the...
I have Photoshop but I don't like it. Yes, it's possible to do what I want there but I still find Xara much more convenient. It just takes less clicks in Xara to do things.
unfortunately now I...
I curious if Photoline has the same bitmap ability as Xara:
1. feather edges quickly
2. Vector masks/crops editable keeping bitmap fill on place or scalable together with the vector outline
3...
In order of importance
1. Ability to work with and export 16 bit per channel images. Those that would work as greyscale depth maps in 3d graphics
2. A special blending mode for those depth images...
What I offered is not 3d features. They are 100% 2d, just making some extra possibilities to compose images produced/rendered in 3d soft. Depth Z blending ( again 100% in 2d, just blending...
Those things like such maps would be so much easier to do if Xara would be a kind of depth aware program. Not 3d really, just allow to keep depth info in a hidden 16 bit depth maps and allow to...
