Hi Matt... yeah. as Acorn says, Xara sold out to Magix and totally trashed the initial premise of our initial purchases. Might want to try Serif Affinity products. Serif model is alot better and...
Thanks Acorn. I too will miss the valuable talent such as yourself, gwpriester, angelize and all the others. I can't express my disappointment - however that being said, look at Inkscape, GIMP,...
Well, XARA. I give up. I downloaded what I thought was an upgrade to XDP17 and it's call Pro+. Worked fine then have to log in to some freakin' website to gain access. This is all within my...
More than likely they (Magix/Xara) are just throwing a bone out. Honestly, I have a deep feeling that this company really is only in if for the money - absolutely no heart&soul in their product....
In these very difficult times, here's a ray of light.... https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/110620-we-want-to-help/
And, as of X17 manual there are NO bookmarks as in previous editions. Oh well....>:|
Speaking of Affinity - as an alternative, albeit not same, there is Gravit that might have potential. I reckon between GIMP, Inkscape, Affinity (not free mind), Paint.Net and Gravit - (Scribus...
Acorn: yeah, whilst I can concur.. but why would a company blatantly advertise something it ain't got? I'm still
Gary: I was bored and wanted to see where my massive renewal $$$ were...
Just went thru the comparison chart between Web Designer, Page & Layout Designer, Photo and Graphic Designer and Designer Pro... http://www.xara.com/us/designer-pro/compare/
Why would you list...
Loving Affinity Designer and now beginning to play with Gravit Designer... both well worth a peek. Those and the old staple Inkscape and Paint.net - Xara now only used for web publishing - no longer...
Thanks Acorn & Mike.
I just tried the Affinity "Save History with Document"... woah-wow. Exactly as I suggested. These days, where terabytes are the norm, what are a few extra meg? Disk space is...
Not sure if this has been discussed, but when I close a document, after editing, it would be nice if the history of changes be maintained with that document. So, when I restart XDP those history...
Now I can honestly say that I've learned something new today! Thanks!
Just had a peek... mine expired 12th (day before update - NATURALLY!!)... anyway, only (yeah right ONLY) $129 still... update thru your application. I'll not be updating - Xara has sucker-punched me...
Merl, feel quite same. As an observation: your start date, 24/7/2008 is exactly same date as me... virtually 19 years back. That's a lot of of upgrades and new. Wow, how time flies.
Fortunately I can afford any upgrade, but out of principle, I am now an Affinity customer. I'll keep the 10, 11 and 365 of Xara, but that's me. Unless they deactivate (illegally) my current version,...
Haakoo, +1. What I will be p!$$ed off about is if the current version "calls home" and is deactivated. Or if you deactivate your "non-subscribed" version and can't reactivate on either the same pc or...
Okay.. update notification working now.
Best
:-O
Hmmm... check for updates does not show this. I guess an entirely new product/system? Will one be able to run both XDPX11 and 365 concurrently?
Just another followup - positive I think.
Well, having reinstalled Win 10 and XaraDP11 successfully, I was shocked to see that Win 10 was HOME edition!!!!! I had had Pro but the reinstall never...
Well, the deed has been done. It would not allow me to activate the same machine, even with the same name. So, I deactivated via web site and activated via program. All fine (so far). However I...
Yeah. Watch this space... I'll have an answer later this w/e after I rebuild the system (no hardware changes).

Many, many, many thanks for your prompt reply. Understood. Most appreciated.
Best

Related question: XARA is activated on a machine. That machine balls up and requires reinstall of OS but before this, part of the ballsup, is that all programs are removed (not accessible/deleted)....
So, so sorry Larry.... I'm not a real frequent visitor, so I humbly apologize. I'll set up my sig to reflect. (XDPX11 mainly, but I've been with the Xara line up since Xtreme 4 I think - way back...
