Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

No, it's more than those 3. The last two on your mini-list would be enough for others here that do books.

Lack of Pantone support is enough for me. Not to mention other things.

    But there are...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

I belive Xara applications are conditionally compiled. While they could work from the bottom up, it would make more sense to work top down. Regardless of release schedule.

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

No. Maybe. I don't know what all P&LD encompasses.

I think an XDP without web stuff is what I am looking for. If that means P&GD combined with the apparently dead (or languishing) P&LD, then fine....

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

P&GD has limited print work appeal. It is getting better, but it isn't there yet.

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

I already do a certain amount of this in my normal work-flow. Not so much because stuff is missing per se, but because Xara hasn't updated many of its export (and import) filters for some time. And...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

    Kate,

the procedure for adding bleed marks is arcane. I have written about it since I began using version 6 (my first version). Bleed itself is defined in the Options dialog. And bleed does get...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

    Thank you, Kate.

It's not "our particular usage" per se. It is non-web usage in the main and in part all the emphasis on bitmap filters, the online content, Online Designer collaboration, etc,...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

Well, they produced them for 30 years. Not a bad run at all. And yep, they abandoned the codebase and in so doing ended improvements.

What exactly do you think the reason Xara doesn't pump out...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

And if there is any need to reinstall, one looses the updates—which includes bug fixes—from the beginning of the original purchase...at least unless Xara/Magix figures out a means of separating fixes...

Re: How do you feel about the 365 Program?

    Hi Phillip,

Read through the whole thing ;^)

All I wanna add is, hey, another UE user! I've been using it from version 1 when Ian was selling it as shareware. I could not imagine coding or...

    Ernie's post is 100% correct.

Yes, monitors can/do display differently. Even calibrated monitors. And calibration needs to be done periodically. Even the light in a room affects color on both...

It's going to be an 8-bit image in a PDF if the intent is for print no matter what is used. N-color is partially supported (spot colors) but not completely in place. 16-bit RIPs are near non-existent...
