I could use a little help.
I want to make a neon sign out of this BW concept.
The problem is how to get a nice smooth Silhouette and incorporate the lettering.
If there are any tutorials out there...
There is a heart shape in the custom shapes menu. You can also download several others, check the free plug-ins list in this forum, I listed one site at about.com that has free shapes.
Hi, I did this in about 10 minutes.
The "Times Mag" font is Times New Roman, go figure.
We've been doing this since The MAC Classic Colour.
Buy a mag, scan it, lose the backgound, toss your favorite self image, add Rachel Welsh,(sorry I'm an old dude), er, Sarah Jessica Parker (puke,...

I like this one, it gives you a different perspective than the standard and works well.

If your getting a white background you may be saving as a jpeg, gifs will give you a transparent background or you can use png which is actually superior.
Thanks I'll keep that in mind.
PS is still lousy for smoothing, I hope that is one of the things that they are addressing.
Thanks Bob.
I really wasn't after a 3d effect or I would have used Ulead.
I like the idea of moving the brush to the right.
Let me work on that.
I expanded on the paint brush theme. Rendered in PS.
Thanks, I'll plug away at it.
One thing I have noticed about xara is that it takes alot more steps to do anything as compared to PS or flash. I read a tutorial on how to do buttons and thought...
I get the point, too busy.
The thing, is a stylized brush, the striped part was done at random but kinda looks like the continental US in a way. (unintentional)
Like most of the stuff I do I have...
Thanks, I'm not really sure what you mean by convert to layer but after I draw and select the circle I did and invert cut. ie layer>new>layer via cut. It seemed to smoothe it somewhat.
I'm incorporating this graphic into a logo and when I reduce it a bit it gets jaggedy:
It can be much easier to create icons, liquid icon (www.x2studios.com) is free and has a capture tool, just box in the picture and poof. Snag it 7 does the same, just save as a .ico
An example of a...

Photoshop 7.0
Most of the stuff I do gets saved to web, so I'm either using jpegs or gif. I would consider png if it makes a difference.
Whats the best way to smooth a graphic? Especially around the edges.
Whats the best way to smooth a graphic? Especially around the edges.
Generally I'm doing displayed graphics for the web, hense a converion to jpeg or gif. I do the text on its own layer with a transparent background.
I think I figured out part of the problem, PS...
The example is blown up to illustrate. "Not" using photoshop is not what I was addressing. If I increase the number of pixels per inch will that smooth the graphic or can I do something else to the...
I've never been happy with the way Photoshop has handled fonts and recently I wiped my hard drive and re-installed everything. Now it seems worse. I think its the way I am managing the files. I...
