Re: A reminder of what we've lost

It certainly is. That one was of a USB light - a spaceman - so I added the spaceship and umbilical cord. The spaceship dates me.

Re: A reminder of what we've lost

Indeed. I came across this thread when clearing out old emails - I send myself interesting links.

Here's a silly drawing for you - I don't do realistic (and shh.. ..it's not Xara)..

A reminder of what we've lost

Remember the times when people regularly posted art rather than web pages?

Here's a reminder. Wow. Even now.

    Really confused now.

JKO - Judge Know One (Ugh) but the text below correctly says 'no one'. Why isn't it now KNO and Judge No One?

The OP had the opposite problem - putting detail in where it's blurred.

Re: Website for Kitchen worktops client

I didn't make the site, but I can say it was made using Wordpress rather than Xara software, so it's fully responsive.

    Re: Affinity Publisher

Pagemaker (Aldus, cough) was the first professional layout software that I used. Absolutely loved it. Drop shadows by having a second copy offset under the first.

  9. Re: Will we ever have master pages in my lifetime?

    Great to see that.

I guess Impression was the child of Wordwise.

I don't think Xara Studio came from that branch of the family - it was never a word processor, it was a graphic design program...

A plane I had never heard of before, nor the story (or maybe I have but forgotten it). Good job!
  11. Re: Working On New Landing Page For New Client - It's Kind Of Weird... I think...

It was more about the misspelling of no-one. Checking that it was a deliberate choice - hence my question about not using JNO not JKO!
  12. Re: Working On New Landing Page For New Client - It's Kind Of Weird... I think...

I'm not a fan of dark sites, but fine.

Why is the first JK not JNO?

PeterC I would just like to add..

It's understandable and completely normal that people use real-world units, but the conversion between the real world and the digital screen isn't going to be...
  14. Re: how can i align objects side-by-side with 0px gap

    I'm intrigued by two things.

First of all sizing things in Centimetres and then describing a gap in pixels. Sounds like a rounding issue to me. If you are working with digital media stick to...

    Re: Passwords

I knew about the Adobe hack - it was several years ago and much publicised. Adobe emailed me to tell me about it and I think they locked the passwords until a new one was set up.

    Re: Passwords

    Definitely.

My daughter had 11 sites mentioned as being compromised.

My four were Adobe, Linkedin, DropBox and Kickstarter.

So many people use the same password for everything.

The best you can hope for is to run a sharpen filter on your image using whatever software that you have.

You can't magically create detail from a blur - just yet anyway.

    Passwords

I get no end of dodgy emails wanting me to donate to a blockchain account because my computer has been taken over and they have recorded me doing unmentionable things if I don't do so.

Of course you can do it - I've seen the fuzzy number plates on the films - they specially process them and the unreadable plate becomes crystal clear and the investigators can read it.

    LOL ;-)

Re: Gaming laptop for Xara work

ANY gaming laptop will run Xara perfectly. Gaming laptops have a better spec than 'ordinary' laptops.

There's no real point in spending that money on a high-spec machine if you don't intend to do...

Re: What Printer Are You Using

My favourite printer was a HP CP1700. Now obsolete. Cartridges were expensive, so we bought third party ones at a fraction of the price. Absolutely did the job at a reasonable cost.
