@Grace—
I, probably for one (!), believe we need a combination headmaster/air traffic controller for this project, because the threads turn to anarchy and entropy every third post as not everyone...
To paraphrase Albert Einstein, “Originality is directly proportional to your success in hiding your source.”
It doesn’t bother me in the least that XaReg’s graphic there looks like a modified...

If I have a vote, I'd stay away from copying someone else's competing product artwork. Not only is it bad form, but we have dozens of innovative designs right here on this...

The UI Thread-post graphics and ideas here!
My Best,

I love your art, Frank!
It's superb.
Sad to say, though, that when XaReg was posted in a different thread, Steve or John had the idea of using the Registry cube and darkened 5 tiles on one side...
Hi laser1—
I don't see how this artwork can be used for the project here, but I must say that it's a terrific piece of artwork!
The sheer complexity is glamorous, and I like that "art" is...
I think we need to ask mindseye to rework the logo above, Grace.
I gave it a try, and it's not working for me, but perhaps someone can riff on the general concept.

Now, it's gotta work...
Very nice choice of font for the subordinate text, mindseye.

@Grace—
I think it's not the best thing for a creative person to do, to avoid "blue" just because it's being used on XaReg!
The reason WHY John and Steve use blue is for product association,...
That is very, very close, mindseye.
I'd like to see the end (the right side) of the checkmark a little taller, sort of like the X in Xara's previous logo, just to force it, make it a touch more...
You said the magic word, and it's yours, Grace.
"Ours", actually. :)
Would anyone like to spin this into a full-blown logo? Using the colors, adding text and so on?

Oh, Larry!
See this opportunity you missed?

Good idea, but my render is just food for thought here, Mike. Other members have already out-thought me on this one!

This represents my take on the ideas of other people who have posted.

It's interesting, and I truly mean it in a positive way.
I'm not here to say "no" all the time, but rather to advise.
I see great improvement and better focus in your design here than before.

It's clean, will work at small sizes, and the "nugget", graphically, is easy to figure out. The Xara part is segmented from the Registry Tool part by your use of colours.
Nice.

Hi chasventre—
Your list is good, however, it inevitably leads to a vault, and although the dial you drew is very, very good and advanced, I'm not sure the "gestalt" of XaRT is so much a guardian...
I think there could be something, Larry, with on/off lights above the name, or little DIP switches, you know like you had to set on the motherboards?

@Frances—
I think rotating it slightly helps, gains interest.
I don't feel it's visually integrated with the text yet, though, sorry!
Make the text the hero, or make the switch, but not...
Hi Eric and welcome to TalkGraphics.
I alluded to the need for an application icon earlier in the thread. From a design standpoint, therefore, whatever Grace decides on will need to be...
The art is attached if anyone wants to show me up...which should be easy.

@all—
I don't see a problem with incorporating the distinctive "x" that The Xara Group used to use on the splash screen.
XaRT is not spelled the same way as "Xara" so naturally there are...
@ Frances—
I love the idea of an on/off toggle switch.
And I can tell you right now it's such a strong icon, that it will fight, not complement the gear.
You got something very strong here....
I love the design AND your approach, mindseye. You're doing something cool with the drop-shadows, very subtle, more like an emboss effect.
@Everyone—If you don't own Fustian, what mindseye did for...
Hi chasventre, welcome to TalkGraphics, and thanks for your thoughtful submission.
It would be good if you went back to post #12 and read through some of the criteria for a good logo. You have...
