Thank you Angelize
I will check out the video!
Sorry, I have been away from Xara Graphics for awhile and forgot almost everything. Anyway, I used to use the mask tool to trace an object, then delete the background, but cannot find the mask tool...
Thank you Stygg
Yours is great too. I love the stars and the way you put a white glow behind the lettering on the building. The white glow makes the letters very easy to read.
Thank you Gary. I was able to use a lot of what I have learned so far. :)
Well, here is my effort on the café photo.

Stygg, I love your Chevy. The older cars sure had style.
Frances, Thank you for the instruction on darkening the photo . . . still working on it!
I love it too Frances!
It is similar to what I am working on (still not finished yet). How did you make the photo look darker?
Thank you Gary and Stygg!
Slim's steakhouse idea was a cross between a restaurant that was in the neighbourhood where I grew up called The Ranch House, with a lariat and boots, and Vegas Vic, the...
Thank you Gary for the great tutorial. I especially appreciated the finish Xara file to compare mine with. That way I was able to catch some of the details I might have missed on the Video.
Here...
Thank you Angelize
I had tried to download twice, and still no colors. So I tried again, but before I opened your file I cleared the check from delete unused colors and styles, and all the colors...
Angelize,
I have started the stained glass tutorial. When I open the tutorial, there is only one saved color on the color bar (sky blue). There is no other colors. Not sure if I'm missing...
Gary,
Thank you for the micro tutorial. What an incredible tool. I went into some of my photographs and was able to also extract a moon and, by using darken instead of bleach I was able to...
Thanks Gare! That worked perfectly. :)
Gare, Thank your for "Clouds to Go" tutorial.
I need help on this one. I was good up to and including step 5. Then in step 6 I got lost. It seems that your black area is transparent but mine...
Gare,
I do see where you are coming from. I am not an artist, so I am not founded in the process - yet! Thank you for your file I will surely study it. I have learned so much in the last 2 1/2...
I have given my "Happy Easter" another go at it. Don't think it's totally finished, but I believe it is an improvement on the last one. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank You! :)

Thank you both for your suggestions!
Stygg:
I love your letter!
Angelize:
I thought I noticed that your leaves were different. That is a very good tip.
Hi guys,
I finally bit the bullet and decided to try the vine. Ah, life would be so much easier without shadows! Anyways, I spent a whole lot of time on this one and really learned a lot.

Hi Gare -
Ah! Yes, I had missed that post. Lovely graphic! Makes me long for spring. We had quite a bit of snow on Sunday & Monday, now more today.
I was able to ungroup that graphic as...
@Dave -
I too have been looking at angelize's file (I am assuming you mean the vines), and I have been able to separate it. In some places you need to ungroup, and in other places you need to...
Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread for all your helpful input.
I just received my photos from Dons Photos. Here is my results.
For sure, starting out with a large page and the...
Sorry Fred. Please forgive me, I did not mean to offend you.
I'm just a little unsure of how to respond to comments made on a thread. Sort of feel like I am treading on egg shells.
Am I missing something here?
My thread says "Interweaving vines with Text". Am I not correct in saying that this is now a separate thread from Image retouching, and has been for quite a while?

You are right Frank,
However, the shadow of the vine (snake) is more difficult than it would appear, because if you use a shadow on the over part of the vine, you get a chopped up shadow, and if...
Thank You gwpriester! :)
