Thanks for the reply Deep.
Here is the problem:
There is a Flash web app. on an ASP page. It retrieves a variable from the page URL and sends it to the Flash movie like this:
<embed...
I have created a Shared Object in "a.swf". I can read and write to it -no problem, but how do I access it from a movie "b.swf".

Your server is probably too slow. If you are using public domain -upgrade to private one.
When looking for the hosting provider make sure they have good connection to the Internet backbone.

That's because it's not a button but a movie clip and all the action script works onclipEvent(mouseDown). So simple /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
But why in world would you want this effect....
If you still want it here is the tutorial:

Sorry TK, there is no way to do what you want without server side technology.
Yes, I remember reading on some other Flash board that loading variables externally WITH HTML may cause browser crash on Mac. /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Scott,
Look at the code I've written above.
The function can easily be modified to do exactly what you want. Use "window.close" for the second button as well, but also call the function "onunload"...
Big Frank,
are you loading an external text file?
Does this file contain HTML tags like it does in the example in the tutorial you are reffering to?
I have just finished working on this utility for extensions developers- Linecraft MXI Wizard.

You are welcome Scott.
BTW if you want the url to open in the new window you can change the function to following:
function redirectOpener(url){
//If user came directly to the page by accident...
After reading your last message I checked the function in IE6, Netscape 4.75, Netscape 6.1 and Opera 5.12 on Windows ME. Worked in all browsers. I used the regular window X button to close the popup...
Use this:
function redirectOpener(url){
//If user came directly to the page by accident
if (!self.opener){
self.opener=self;//Open in the same window
}
window.opener.location=url;
}
I am not sure if I got it right, but...
How about
"if (_currentframe>30<=40) {"
instead of
"if (_currentframe>30<40) {" ?
Alex Dzhulay.
Try putting "&" (without quotes) between your variables in the text file, e.g:
x="text"& y="text text"& z="other text"
Also there is no need to put var keyword in the text file.
Try it ...
Four steps to get it done:
1. Click "Edit multiple Frames" button.
2. Move the sliders that will appear in your timeline palette to select the range of frames you want to be affected.
3. Then...

I regret to confirm this.
I was able to view Photoshop .psd files in IE using Quick Time plug-in.
Yesterday I have "upgraded" to IE SP2. After I read your message I decided to check it out. Now...
