    Re: Blog questions

I agree with JimTotal regarding Nabble. It's by far the easiest to setup the mechanics of it. They also have other applications, equally simple -- and one of very few to combine a forum and a group...

    Re: Opera problem

It loaded fine in my Opera ... except for the infamous shift to the right which was in Opera but not Chrome, Explorer or Firefox. Is that what you mean? It can be caused by page clipping but I...

    Re: blogs and SEO

Gary, it's spelled 'bout .... not "about." sheesh

Thanks Drwyd. I use a brief "border" at the top of the page. The blog is available here for your convenience, or you may link directly to the...
  4. Re: Does anyone else have trouble getting the popup lock tweak to work correctly?

The link doesn't work -- not for me anyhow
  5. Re: Does anyone else have trouble getting the popup lock tweak to work correctly?

I frequently have problems with locked popups. Just today I spent two hours when the popup stopped closing, even though nothing had changed in the layer, the tweak, the named object or anything...

    Re: ClanWebsite

Thank God it's not a KLAN site!

I'm with Gary I think -- not a gamer, but the graphics and the general feel of it seem very good for gamers.
  7. Re: Editing Website : Solution for my clients ?

Here's a wacky idea. Clients are the boss, so let them decide! ;)

I include Xara in my price (at MY cost), give them the choice of Xara and WordPress and explain the advantages of each.

Re: Creating a Maple Dipped Doughnut

Frances, first a short story. In the early 90s I was a forum moderator for Compuserve. I'm much to old for that now, 70. :)

I keep wanting to say how much I enjoy watching your contributions...

Re: Horizontal Tiling is picking on me

Thanks. I guess you're saying that horizontal tiling (tweak) doesn't work, and you are the expert!

Horizontal Tiling is picking on me

I need to tile a shallow graphic horizontally. It works fine when I preview it, but it repeats down the page when I'm in the editor. And the colors are intense!

    Thanks, anyone.

    Re: Dynamic Webpage Size

If your design works at 800px, you might consider doing the site at 800px for content, but the xara page at 1000. (usually by background) I THINK that worked for a client :)

    Certain layouts look...

    Re: Xara with Wordpress

At the risk of being shot to death ....

I use WordPress where the client wants(or needs) to maintain the site. Xara is still easier on the design part, but Wordpress has so many plugins for SEO...

Re: New web site for review

I agree on exotica -- which means naked wimmin

Enough teasing. Great site. Here's a new free resource I found for optimizing a web site -- mostly for download speed. The analysis at the bottom...

Re: Feedback on new website please

VERY nice. I especially like the colored -- sorry, coloured -- "ribbons" at the left edge of your home page. You used soft folds, and the sharp crease is used so much as to be almost trite to me!

    Re: web store

Agree. I can vouch for it being okay to download their store app. Might save some of you some time. I downloaded and scanned it with three virus scanners.

We can sell stuff there for 70%. They...

    Re: web store

It doesn't speak well to have a MAJOR spelling error in your home page headline. :)

    Re: Working with Layers

If I hear you right, you get to where you want to click a button once and do two things: open one or more layers and close one or more others, all from one click.

    See the Tweak for Locking...

    Re: Choices for hosting

It's not true, Phill. I'm a website host myself, and I'd notice! Here's a link to the Magix Free Hosting. You'll notice that it uses their own domain. For example, your URL would be something...
  19. Re: can't upload my homepage because of ftp:// address

I just checked. There are two ways that work. In the Help example for magix.com:

    ftp.yourdomain.com

or skip ftp entirely (as I've done for years)

    yourdomain.com

    Both of those also...
  20. Re: What should I do in WD7 based website design from the SEO point of view?

Great idea! That will greatly reduce your learning curve on site creation and design, leaving you more time for the vagaries of SEO. :)

Sadly, there is no great and single source for beginners...
