Ooh, another question - does anyone know how far the new thumbnail support extends? Can it do thumbnails/previews for Xara 1.x & Xara 2?
Hi Soquili & Meia,
I thought that Meia was replying to YourMum:

I'm not sure what you're all talking about. I was assuming that the thumbnail viewer is registered with Windows, so that you can open up Windows Explorer, browse to the folder holding all your .xar...
I wonder why that is..? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
Jens,
Agreed, you can't modify the program. The only way I can imagine 'integrating' any non-Xara extension with XX is via the bitmap plugin architecture - you could write a dummy bmp plugin to...
So what this thread is saying, is 'Give us import/export filters'. Well, Xara may or may not give them to you. But if anyone has programming skill or buddies, then you *can* roll your own, you know....
I'd agree with most of what Egg said.
For hours of precision work (tho' I'm not an artist http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif ), an LCD - use one at work and it's so much less...

Curious to know where you got your info from.

Lone Wolf,
If you want to view .xar files as thumbnails in windows explorer, then as far as I know, you're currently out of luck. Either use xnview or get a programmer buddy to write a shell...
Hi Mumkut,
To answer your q's:

1. Right-click on the circle & choose 'convert to editable shapes' - unfortunately after this you can only edit it with the path tool.
2. Type your text in....
Just rediscovered the search facility in these forums and presto, tons of viewer references, but none which anybody can use with thumbnail view. Any takers? (Don't make me start coding... ;-)

Has anyone gotten around to writing a utility so that the File Explorer can show thumbnails of Xara files under Win2000/WinXP/Win98/WinMe? It should be easy enough to do as a lot of .xar files have a...

I've got a feeling that you're looking at the same problem we had trying to get ropes to overlap. If you look at Egg's blow-ups, you realise that the top of the brushed rope looks correct because...
... is an easy way to get a graph-paper effect.
1. Draw a rectangle the size of your graph.
2. Convert-to-shapes & use Shape Editor tool to break it up into lines.
3. Blend between opposite lines....
ok, that was *far* too quick! I thought my challenge was actually very difficult, but you've made it look really easy! Great effect! Now I've just got to get Xara doing this automatically......
Thanks for the praise Pete and Gary, although I may be disqualified if we have to use _only_ brushes /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Attached is a .xar file of my knot separated into layers, which...
Here's my effort, although it has to be one of the easiest knots to do, as it's made of two separate pieces of rope. How about this for a challenge - a double figure of eight (as used by climbers). I...
If you're clipping a complex drawing, clipview can be interrupted by clicking on the document while it's rendering, in which case the rest of the clipped contents sometimes don't render.
If you get...
You can easily create your own colour wheel in Xara with blend-on-path.
1. Draw two red rectangles standing on their ends.
2. Draw a circle & convert it to shapes.
3. Blend between the two...
