    The two gradient fill's Fill Tiling options have been set to Repeating. And I applied a Profile 1 profile to smooth out the fill.

    It is possible to combine two or more linear fills to create a brush that goes both ways. I have used two gradient fills with the Repeating Till fill option.

    Acorn - This would produce even circles that taper. I reduced the tonal range on your fill to minimize the amount distortion.

    This image was made by blending two rectangles along a spiral path. I don't think this can be done with an art brush.
