Just updated to a new version, and then when I started Xara again, I got the message that there is yet another update. So I did another upgrade, and now I'm at: Xara Designer Pro X 12.6.1.49367 DL...
Digged around a bit and discovered that tab stops are stored with a paragraph style. I think this answers my question.
In a text field, can I have the same tab stops for all paragraphs?
By same I mean that if I make a change to a tab stop, then all paragraphs should be updated accordingly.
This is essential...
Same here, learned about some great tools, thanks!
Perfect, no need to revert back to X11! :) I was too quick to judge the new Xara…
There is another issue with the new crop tool: It’s not possible anymore to zoom tightly into a corner and then adjust cropping. There now are just four handles as compared to eight ones in the...
:(
I think this is the first time that I paid for an upgrade which turns out to be a downgrade: No new vector or typography features in X365 and they even crippled image cropping. Reinstalling X11…
Just tried cropping an image in the latest Pro X, but it seems like I snap to the page background does not work anymore, like it used to in previous versions. Of course snap to objects is enabled. I...
Just ordered the upgrade, although there is nothing in it for me. I see it as a donation to finance development of much needed vector features, most importantly proper support for OpenType.
Tip of...
I’ve created pixel art with Xara before, and I recall running into an issue with colors. In the exported PNG image, colors did not match exactly those that I set in Xara. Some were slightly off,...
No, and that’s not the issue. As detailed elsewhere in this thread, Xara automatically JPEG-compresses certain bitmaps on paste. Behavior depends on the data format that a bitmap is stored on the...
By the way, OpenType features are not just for pros. Even Word supports OpenType features!
See what you’re missing by example of Sabon Next, rendered with XeTeX, converted from PDF to PNG with...
Just checked with Designer Pro X: The issue is still there.
It would be great if someone updates this thread once Xara has a fix. That may motivate me to update to the latest version.
Thanks, Michael, all that looks very interesting!
No. As I wrote before, the image is stored as a device-independent uncompressed bitmap in the clipboard. If pasted into Xara, it’s compressed to JPEG. If pasted into Paint, it retains its full...
Slows down workflow. Just copying and pasting is simpler. That being said, ViewCaptureToFile does offer some additional options such as the capability to create a screenshot with higher resolution...
Thanks for the suggestion, but it does not work. The pasted image is still too small. Weird.
Thanks, this kind of works: Now when I paste, Xara asks if I want to paste as Device-independent Bitmap or as Bitmap. When choosing the first option, it pastes without conversion to JPEG. With the...

Images have been scaled up 200%. Notice the compression artifacts in the left image. First pasting into Paint and then copying from there is a workaround, although...
When pasting into Paint, then the image is clean, i.e. without artifacts. Paint beats Xara in quality! ;)
Quite possible. I just wonder if this behavior can be changed. Maybe there is a setting...
That has no effect: The compression artifacts are still there. The problem is that Xara converts to JPEG on paste, and a JPEG with a high compression rate. Not nice.
Any other suggestion?
In the 3D modeler Rhino3D, with the ViewCaptureToClipboard command, I can create a screenshot of the current viewport. According to a Rhino developer, “the ViewCaptureToClipboard command copies a...
Received it yesterday, and it works as expected. It's a stylus with a ballpoint pen cartridge. To use it, I taped a paper on top of an Intuos4 tablet. Obviously, it's extremely easy to use: You draw...
mwenz, Albacore, thanks a lot for all the advice!
