there is when you are doing watercolor - its called a sponge ;)

speed is the thing here - having to make dozens of small corrections in the boolean way is really tiresome.... :D

but only for what you have just drawn - as Bill says

look at this from the point of view of freehand drawing - THAT IS IS AN UNDO TOOL not an eraser :rolleyes:

What Frances proposes would actually speed things up for those who draw freehand - basically if you turn the pen round then nodes are automatically deleted if you run the eraser end over them -...
