King, Queen, Bishop and rook scream:
"Heyyy, what about us?" :D
With either piece of Xara software it would beat the heck out of doing a chessboard with Illustrator.
I find the whole process of graphic conceptualization fascinating: how the creator has to see "ahead" from raw shapes to a complex end result.
As someone who is still on the trial Xara, I have one challenge that I would like to see:
Has anyone used Xara to make a chessboard with realistic pieces? Heck, while we are at it chuck in the...
My related fill question is "can the line colour part of the extrusion b e given a fill to make the entire extrusion a fill?"
Now, if you convert that pdf to EPS it should open up as illustrator with the extrusion effects still there. At least that's what worked for me.
This is the pdf version. The EPS is too large.
Interestingly, I did find a workaround.
Take the xara extrusion file, export to commercial grade PDF. Then save that PDF as EPS . Now, even though the file appears to be PDF as icon, it will open...
Now, I am still using the trial version. I already have the full versions of illustrator, indesign, photoshop and acrobat 8.
I have found that Xara's xtreme pro extrusion does not convert to my...
That works! Sweet!
Dominique, thank you for improving my bottle as well :D
BTW, how do you get that wire frame?
I dropped French in high school and learnt Chinese!
Merci :) [Only other French I know is Cest...
Xara might not be as powerful at technical stuff that industry wants, eg spot colours, but it is an awesome artistic program.
Best features of programs:
Xara: 3D extrusion tool
Illustrator:...
I produced a AI file today that was 27 MB without trying.
I can't load the shadow one. It is 966 KB after deleting some stuff.
Well, if this attachment is not too large, it's about as far as I get with fancy shadow effects in Ilustrator. I still can't see how to make the shadows distinct from their parent objects.
I like...
Ok, I'll add in my bit.
My first computer was a Mac in the early 90s. It was pragmatic: my high school used Macs so it was easier to work on them at home and school.
Then in 1995 I got into...
In Illustrator CS3 is there any way of making the shadow distinct from the shape? I.E like real life where shadows do not always appear to touch their object.
Does that offset box do it if I give...
The live effects all work and they are great!
They take Xara to another level. In my opinion they give Xara the same technical control that used to be the sole property of Illustrator. Combined...
Xara is proving to be so good at making complex 3D objects that I will find it useful if I am employed at 3D package design. I was going to buy a 3D graphics program such as Modo for this but Xara...
Weird. Today I don't get any access violations for live effects and they all work fine :)
I didn't reinstall or anything.
It must be that something was going on on my PC at the same time....
Actually I mean the live effects tool. On my trial version a number of things on its menu lead to this access violation.
When I use that speciial effects box with the plug symbol I get "access exception violation [serious Xara error] quit or continue/"
Is this a noted bug? If I continue Xara does not crash; the...
That's great!!!!!!!!!
My quest for the sphere is over!
Wooohoooooooooooooooooooooo! :D
BTW I mean geometric spheres; I don't mean a globe of the worlde etc.
I have tried to create a sphere with various 2D graphics tools: Coreldraw, Illustrator, Xara and Inkscape. To date every attempt has failed. My closest try has been to revolve a curved line in...
