TD, you could create a clutch of Layers and select one with Solo Mode and build up a collection of objects therein.
Later you want to copy from one layer so do that and select the required layer...

Somehow you have deleted all the Layers apart from MouseOver on Main and there are none in the variant.
Nothing will show as a result.

Have you copied the trigger object into both then each will have the same Name/Anchor?

This sounds like caching server-side. If you use Cloudflare, it has a Dev Mode that purges the server cache otherwise you have to wait until all the edge severs receive the changed files.

You do not put it into the Pasteboard layer, just drag it into an off-page position.
