try these 5 easy steps
Start IE.
From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
Select the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the Multimedia section.
Select or clear the Show pictures checkbox....

why don't you set a timer for your pictures that would be better, then they could move in which ever way you want them to, just open up the setting and then start by doing so, timing your pictures
i use mac but i have never experienced having trouble with design, windows XP is a good choice for you
