A definite +1.
For precision sizing of a stroked rectangle, such as for a 1/16th-page print ad I prepared recently, the ability to keep the outline/stroke entirely within the bounds of the...

Not necessarily. At least one of the Canadians further east (me) is still waiting. And I am heading out to the east coast tomorrow before the mail comes, so I won't be able to enjoy the CD's until I...
A slight correction, Steve: in the upgrade section of the store on the Xara website, if you are upgrading from "Xara Xtreme older versions," under "What's included?" the list includes "450 page...
+1, with a bullet.

Hello Paul;
Not considering yourself a photographer, it is brave of you to step in to teach Photoshop in this context. I hope you have at least a pretty good working knowledge of digital...
Hi Harry;
I'm a Nikon shooter and don't know if this might be different with Pentax, but every lens I own, whether manufactured by Nikon, Sigma, or Tamron -- except for a 50mm whose front element...
Hi all;
It's been a while since I was active in these forums. My ideas below are meant only to add thoughts to this discussion, and not as any sort of definitive or conclusive points. Nor are they...
It has been a long time since I have posted here on TG, partly because I have been spending a lot of time on photography. However, my recent purchase of XDP6 has re-awakened my interest in this great...
Putting it in context:
Upgrade to Xtreme Pro -- $120 (= $10/month for one year, and free from then on)
One-day workshop in anything -- $175 +
Hard cover university textbook -- $100 - $200
Adobe...
Thanks for following up, Charles. I was one who had not received the first issue of the Outsider; but signing up for it a few weeks ago successfully got me on the list for the May issue.

Very nice combination of "cartoon" elements with textured and beveled elements! One humble suggestion would be that you give the table a wall shadow similar to that of the vase, so that the table...
Humble suggestions:
1. Without double-clicking, the first single-click on any layer name selects that layer, the second single-click allows renaming (as with files in Windows Explorer);

This is a wonderful thread! Every time I visit the forum these days, I save this thread for last -- like dessert, the sweetest part of the meal! Thanks for all the great work!

Well, Egg, I guess we know who the true Xara "outsiders" are, don't we?
(Oh, goodness; I think I might be descending from sensitive to antisocial. :eek:)

So, how does one arrange to receive this new newsletter, anyway? I used to be on Xara's mailing list, and as far as I know I haven't done anything to be removed from it. I didn't even receive the...
I guessed from your drawing that you are talking about the opium poppy. Then I googled "amapola flower" and found out that I was right. No wonder it's illegal.
Great drawing.

I would like to respectfully add to this discussion something I have said in past threads in which this concern re: "bloatware" has come up -- and such threads have arisen periodically since I...
Excellent drawing, Joe; your skill with caricature is obviously well-honed. I sent you a PM with an idea I wanted to bring to your attention.

Now, I am anything but an apologist for the military, especially the rather overgrown (and overfunded, and overinvolved where they do not belong) American military. However, out of sympathy for Rian...
Thanks for this excellent tutorial, Ross. Now I just need to find out if I can replicate it somehow (that Jiggle filter might be hard to find or to substitute).
Thanks again,
Glen
I'm very curious about which filters, filter settings, and transparency settings you are using for these fabulous creations. If you don't remember this info, it would be great if you could keep track...
Here's one way:
1. Convert shadow to editable shape;
2. Ungroup object and shadow;
3. Flip shadow vertically;
4. Move shadow into desired position.

Edit: Albacore, it looks as though...
You did everything right except the first step, which is to export the image in a web-compatible format, such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.
With your image open in Xara, select Export from the File...
