  1. Re: Well This Was a Pleasant Surprise! FULL WIDTH SLIDER/SLIDSHOW!?

    Yes!

Also, not just slide shows but anywhere the transparency is overlaying a stretched/full width/fixed background/parallax/plus more that I can't think of. The default is 'Let Xara Decide' and...
  2. Re: Well This Was a Pleasant Surprise! FULL WIDTH SLIDER/SLIDSHOW!?

Utilities > Web Properties > Image > PNG (best for graphics)

Even though you import a png, Xara will change it by default. Jonopen answered this for me on my first ever question at TG.

    Re: Terrific artist. Fantastic presentation

That should read WDP 16.1 manual...it's 66MB .exe when unzipped.

    Re: Terrific artist. Fantastic presentation

Commercial software, but excellent results and tons of options: https://www.flipbuilder.com/

I made a flipbook from the WDP 16.1 a while ago if you want to see a no frills vanilla production. It...
  5. Re: Windows 10 upage totally hosed the search feature

Yes, you need the cmd prompt:

Right click Start and choose Windows PowerShell (admin) then copy/paste the commands.

Or...you could see if the option to 'Update Now' is available to you. This...
  6. Re: The mobile version's background moves, but i don't want it to.

    Try:
    Utilities > Web Animation > Reveal/Scroll
Select Scroll and choose Parallax from the drop down and leave the speed at 0.

    Re: Scribble September 2019

Very impressed. Blends in superbly. It helps that I like that style of imagery, but still...nicely done.

Re: My site takes a long time to load . . .

This is where the subjective bit comes in. I don't like a blank background, I like a texture to stop it looking bleak and sterile.

I tend to lean towards chalkboard, concrete, frosted glass and...

They're Techno Pan Pipes of course. Obvious on first glance to anyone schooled in 21st century robotic mythical goat creatures.

Re: My site takes a long time to load . . .

Do you think a semi transparent white overlay would tone down background?

I'm pretty useless at visualising, but I'd be trying both white and charcoal to see which looked right.

    Re: Photo slideshow Third party

I've used Amazing Slider, HiSlider (which looks remarkably like Amazing Slider) and I'm currently using CSSSlider

Re: My site takes a long time to load . . .

What you are describing is standard practice of the mobile device. Nothing to do with Xara or the way you built the site. Have a look at any website and it will do the same thing.

Re: My site takes a long time to load . . .

No need to convert the text to shapes. The warning about a non standard font can be ignored if the file size of the font is small. The font gets uploaded with the site and is used by the visitors...

Ha, I just posted virtually the same thing on Braden's other thread. Not sure if it's 'Great Minds Thin Alike' or 'Fools Seldom Differ'.
  15. Re: Can I make this object stick to the edge of the browser window somehow?

I can see what you're trying to achieve, not the actual question, but the reason why you want to do it, you're trying to fill the empty space.

Usual disclaimer: different ideas, subjective, no...

    Re: Each page separately

My machine is getting rather long in the tooth but I'm running an SSD so my read/write times will be a lot faster.

It would be interesting to do an apples for apples test.

    Re: Each page separately

I have more pages and more power, but you have 4x the amount of 'objects'. The 11 minutes to upload is very dependent on your ISP, or do you mean the whole process of publishing directly from Xara?

    Re: Each page separately

Different site. Load times under 4 seconds, save time under 3. I didn't publish it because it's live and for a customer, but it's nowhere near 11 minutes. If it was more than 1 minute I would...

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you are looking for, but https://auzlink.net.au is made up of 4 different sites that are linked.

Main site uploaded to public_html, art to public_html/art,...

I'm gonna practice this...mainly because I've read it twice and still don't get it. Needs a hands on learning curve methinks. It's also the same as handdrawn said I believe.

Thanks Egg, I was doing something similar but cutting and pasting. As you and handdrawn have admirably shown, Xara is highly capable of doing the precise (mathematical) design work, but a painting...
