    Re: 3D illustrations...

I finally got something for swamp in 3D, but I'm trying to decide if I need to tweak this somehow. I preferred muddier water, but it hid the bottom too much, making it look less like water. I painted...

Re: Fantasy maps created using Xara Xtreme

    Thanks, Boy!

Next is opposite in the temperature zone - this is a glacier and crevasse. The crevasse was done in 3D, the rest is done in Xara.

    Enjoy!

Re: Fantasy maps created using Xara Xtreme

I mentioned in my 3D illustrations thread in the Off Topic Chat Forum, that I'm currently working on what I'm calling the Hostile Terrains Map Set. Some of the maps are being done in 3D, hence why I...

    Re: 3D illustrations...

Working on a Hostile Terrain Map Set, though designed for use in Sci-Fi games, because it's just terrain, it's perfectly usable in fantasy games. While I'm not exclusively using 3D for this set, some...

    Re: 3D illustrations...

    Thank you, sir!

Note: the rest of the cover design is vector bevels using Xara.

    Re: 3D illustrations...

Raydream was the first 3D software I started using back in the 90's. Cool.

The final object for the Sick Bay Map Object/3D printable set of 10 tokens. This is a premium physician drone robot. Instead of 4 tool limbs and 4 walking legs as depicted in the Armory, this bot, as...

I knew it would do that to somebody - and I was thinking of that as I was creating it! ;)

Here's three more 3D tokens I'm adding to the Sick Bay set: an isolation bed (for the bends, or contagions), a dental chair, and a cold sleep pod.

    Re: 3D illustrations...

Good question. Virtual Tabletop applications simulate a live game, as is normally played in roleplaying games, where you can upload a map, tokens representing player characters, non-player...

    Re: 3D illustrations...

Well between all my projects I need to do this year, I'm going to try to create some 3D, topdown, map symbols of varying sci-fi furnishings and accoutrements so I can both create multiple sets of...

Re: Xara 3d Maker; Blender or Sketchup?

Oh, sorry, you're right. Not DXF, I was exporting to AI format, which I can import into Wings 3D, which is how I did that logo. Got confused with another program doing the same kind of thing (not...

    Re: 3D illustrations...

Well after completing a 22 map commission for Legendary Games Ages of Empires AP, I'm finally free to get back to my own projects, but needed a non-job project to clear my mind to set me on course...

Re: Xara 3d Maker; Blender or Sketchup?

Actually, I know that Xara can export a 2D shape as a DXF file, and I can import DXF into Wings 3D (and I'm certain many other 3D programs too), which you can then extrude using 3D tools. You cannot...

    Re: Shinny metallic texture

While it still wouldn't be easy, if I really needed a mirror ball, I'd create it in 3D. I'd start with a 3D sphere, create squares and place them in a band across the center around the wall, and...
  19. Re: How to convert to gif to transparent png

I don't do it for logos, I do it for plants like trees - and I'm talking very complex designs, not simple... more like this. I cut this out, because I needed a top down image of a bamboo plant, and...

Trace the non-white areas of the logo, combine all the traced areas into a single object. Select the GIF logo and the traced areas, and Combine/Intersect. Then export to PNG with alpha channel...

Re: How do I change the paper size?

Honestly, I generally export all my files to PDF format, then set it to tabloid (11 x 17) inside Acrobat, when I print anything. I print straight out of Xara for letter size (8.5 x 11) with images...

  24. Re: I take my music seriously - but maybe not this seriously
