Couldn't agree more Ron. I use named colours almost exclusively. I dislike the "Shade of" as well as mismatched colour line each time you create a shade.

It's worth mentioning that Text FX is a plug-in on Notepad++, it's not there by default. There is no Text FX plugin for the 64bit version, so better download the 32bit version, install, Plugins /...
