  1. Re: DPX 18 - Textbox Width doesn't match image width in browser.

Thanks, @Boy -- When I get a chance to dig further into this, I'll plan on uploading with a dummy layout.
  2. Re: DPX 18 - Textbox Width doesn't match image width in browser.

Thanks Gary - I don't think it has to do with the browser. All my other Xara pages look fine, and everything else is working as expected. I started this page from a template ("Web Story"), so I...
  3. Re: DPX 18 - Textbox Width doesn't match image width in browser.

Thanks, @Acorn - I tried previewing in various instances of Chrome, with HTML exported into different folders, and dumped the browser buffer a lot. It's in the HTML somewhere, but I didn't dig that...
  4. Re: DPX 18 - Textbox Width doesn't match image width in browser.

Thanks @Egg - I'll try to put together a test page with greeked text. In the meantime, I've rebuilt everything from scratch in a new xar file. Still, I'd like to be able to correct such things...
  5. DPX 18 - Textbox Width doesn't match image width in browser.

    Using Xara Designer Pro X 18.0.0.61642 DL x64 Mar 18 2021

A simple web page begins with a picture, followed by a deep text block.
Both the picture and the text block are set to the full width of...
  6. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

    Thanks. Will do!

  7. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

    UPDATE:

Looks like all the grouping got snaggled up, so I'll have to rebuild the affected navbars. And then try to convince the artist who maintains this site that she needs to be even more...
  8. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

All the buttons in the navbar seem to be at the exact same positioning on both layers. But I still can't soft group them. Back to the manual....

  9. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

The Off and Over objects can't be soft-grouped because they are "incompatible." The error msg suggests perhaps they have different anchoring, so I'm exploring that. But I'm wondering if other...
  10. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

    UPDATE:

The MouseOff and MouseOver sets of (broken) navbar objects aren't in a shadow group. I'm not sure how that happened, but probably they were mistakenly ungrouped at some point.

    How can...
  11. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

There are about 15 pages. It varies, but usually about that number. They're in 3-4 XAR files. The Archive page is huge, and hit Xara's depth limit. The rest of the site might fit in one XAR file.
    ...
  12. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

You're correct -- the other navbars work fine. The site had to be divided into several XAR files, since it got rather large in a few places. The navbar button to the Art Radio page has no submenus,...
  13. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

Thanks. I've run it as Admin, but no change. However, please see my update from 12:24 PM -- the new navbar submenu seems to be working.

This problem with the existing site persists. I'll try a...
  14. Re: Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

Update: I just created a new document, downloaded a navbar, set up a few submenu items, and then copied & pasted it into the broken XAR file. The pasted
navbar displays the dummy submenus, but the...
  15. Navbar sub-menus have stopped appearing. (XDPX 12.8)

After minor updates to a website, the navbar submenus no longer display. The mouseover fx still work, but there's no submenu. I created a new dummy navbar by just downloading it and adding a few...

Wow! Great flag collection. Thanks, Egg!

  17. Re: How to create a simple dynamic web page that your client can update / amend.

Great idea, Egg. Thanks for the tip. I've been using and recommending Drive (and formerly Docs) for quite a while, but I never got around to exploring "publish to the web". This does seem to be an...

    Re: User-updatable text and/or image?

Thanks to everyone for these suggestions. I've considered CMS embedding, but the goal here is to provide the user with something so simple that he or she can manage it without any significant...

    Re: User-updatable text and/or image?

Yes, they will never touch the XAR file, that's for sure!

I hadn't considered the Embed a Website widget, although it seems to leave me with the same basic challenge:

    What I'm considering is a...

    User-updatable text and/or image?

Is there a reasonable way to permit certain users to replace a block of text or an image on a specific page?

I can teach them to use FTP and upload files to pre-defined names, but it would be...

    Re: NAME HELP

I agree with the "avoid hyphens" advice, in general. It should be easy to teach to a customer, and easy to remember. I find that "all one word" is a simpler instruction for people to remember than...
  22. Re: 'Timeout was reached' - ERROR FROM XARA DESIGNER XPRO

Please see my reply to http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?65448-website-is-doubling-up-and-won-t-upload, which contains some additional info on this issue.

  23. Re: website is doubling up and won't upload

Xara Designer Pro X9 was working great until today, when it updated itself to 9.2.5 DL x64 Nov 29 2013. Now the custom FTP upload is severely misbehaving.

Xara "publish document" now creates an...

    Re: Maximum Website Size?

I'm afraid I've misled the conversation in some way...
