Re: Xara LX and background transparency?

When you export, under Palette Options change the "Colour Depth" to "True colour + Alpha"... also make sure you have Transparency checked on the Options tab.

    Re: background problem

We haven't even scraped the surface of strange yet. Perhaps something about asking greyhound trainers how best to plow a field? Asking newspaper printers which of their papers is best for wiping up...

    Re: background problem

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to mean to anyone, and I think it's really interesting to see how people would accomplish it in Xara. However, if I were in a screwdriver forum and someone asked...

    Re: background problem

One quick note... always be sure to test your transparent images in Internet Explorer. Their support of transparent PNGs is spotty, to say the least.

    Re: background problem

I agree with behzad... It's always best to have the original art work, so press for that from your client. If they don't have the original source files themselves, you can always offer to build...

    Re: Feature Wish List

Actually, I think you hit the nail on the head - Per node instead of per line, or rather, using nodes to implicitly select the lines between them.

Given the pentagon in the diagram below, the user...

    Thanks for trying Remi.

Unfortunately, I already know how to select multiple nodes and move/translate them. It's scaling and rotation that I'm after... Such as can be done with vertices in most...

    Feature Wish List

    Aloha folks!

I'm pretty new to Xara (just under a month now) and I'd like to start by saying that I'm completely in love with this program. I have fairly extensive experience with raster...

    Re: Newbie question: concentric shadow

You're welcome, man. I'm still learning myself, and the level of support around here is phenomenal. I'm happy if I can offer anything back to the community.

Re: select under (alt+click) seems not work ?

Does your desktop use Alt-Click for anything else? In KDE, Alt-Click grabs a window and dragging moves it. KDE captures that input before it gets to Xara, and I wasn't able to Alt-Click select...

    Re: Newbie question: concentric shadow

    Alright, corrections...

    1. Copy circle
    2. Change fill to Circular; White -> 50% grey.
    3. Mess with the Fill Profile.
    4. Set transparency type to "Stained Glass."

    Example file included.

    Re: Newbie question: concentric shadow

I'm sure there's a number of ways to accomplish that, but here's the one that comes to mind for me:

    1: Duplicate the circle.
2: On the copy, remove the outline if you have one, and give it a...

DoD:Source is the bomb. You and your clan have excellent taste. :)

Where's your server located? If you're on the west-coast, I'll probably drop in sometime.

Re: Am I less of a designer

This might be a minority opinion, but I strongly believe that the proof is in the pudding. I don't care what tool you use... It's the designs, not the tools that are your measure as a designer.

  19. Re: Thanks to Everyone working on the Open Source Project

I just started learning Blender this week, and I can second that. It takes a day or two to wrap your head around the interface, but it's an excellent piece of software once you're acclimated. In...

Re: August tutorial finished with Xara LX

That's odd. I'm not experiencing any imprecision with the mouse (Slackware Current / KDE 3.5.3), nor have I ever noticed any difference in the mouse handling between GNU/Linux and Windows - at least...
