All hit counters I have used are simply a placeholder object with the counter code inserted into the 'Replace with HTML code' area and positioned on the page exactly where they should appear.

None at all, but you would have to do this every time you update your page in Web Designer.
However, please see here:

Suggestion:
Disconnect from the web.
Disable your security software.
Disable any registry protection utilities, optimizers etc.
Uninstall WD6.
If using Vista or W7, right-click the WD6...
That would be the wrong key Frank.
Here's what you must look for, not the /Workspace further down the tree
71535
Frank, it's under 6.0/Options/Workspace not 6.0/Workspace
If you are comfortable using REGEDIT and making a small change, then you could try disabling the skin there?
- close XWD6
- Start regedit
- navigate to...
Frank I'm talking about Web Designer 6, not Windows.
Please open WD6 and then press those keys thanks
Frank, switching to the older light grey UI has helped some people.
Please try: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S
Not what I suggested at all. But anyway, get back to us with your report.
Have you tried as I suggest Mike?
Sorry, I thought we were talking about running Xara software and setting the .web file program association.
As mentioned previously, right click the shortcut and select 'Run as Administrator'...
Right-click the shortcut icon and select 'Run as Administrator' and try again.
Thought this should not be necessary if as you say you are logged in as admin. Though the message you posted...
Best bet is to contact Xara support with as many details as you can.
Yes, WD is a subset of Xara Xtreme. So it's easier for Xara developers to 'remove' features than add them.
This has been answered in your other thread Ron, however for the benefit of others who may only be following this thread, the Object Level to Page layers is one of the 'Pro' features which is only...
Marcia, you can make feature requests in the Dear Xara.. or Dear Xara Web Designer.. forums depending on which program you are asking for :)
The Xara developers read those forums.
Yes, but as far as we are told this time around the Xara assigned names are not swapped for other images when you update.
And don't forget to use ALT text, Google loves ALT text ;)
Yes, this is a known bug.
Xara will likely fix this in a patch before too long.
No - the trial is not crippled at all.
To start creating a Navbar you need to select a grouped button which has a text object.
You can actually just type a word on the page such as : MENU and...
No you cannot.
I'm not sure that it was ever working properly between XX and WD Francis?
In other words, whether there was any intention by the developers to make this even possible, after all -...
I'd suggest you download the trial and give it a, err... trial ;)
I've not come across any dramatic problems, mostly the WD5 sites have come across cleanly and without any errors.
Remember, aside...
Mentorman was asking about opening Web Designer 5 files into Web Designer 6, not Xtreme files.
LE's are not supported in WD, so .xar files created in Xtreme using them have never been cross-compatible with WD. Nothing has changed here.
Mostly - yes. Though if you have made use of some (or many) of the WD5 tweaks, you may have to remove them.
You can place multiple items in the one <head> placeholder.
You don't add any head tags yourself, WD does this becuase the named placeholder tells the filter to place the code in the head section..
