Stylistic Font Sets ... BUG?
Okay, I don't know if this is me, or a bug in the way that Xara deals with the stylistic font sets.
I have been playing with a font called "Nightingale" which is a beautiful font, and free at fontbundles.net at the moment. It has quite a range of alternate characters, which as you can see from the picture has a flowing capital "N" at the beginning. In fact all the Capitals have flowing options, there is an option on the site to view the glyphs. You can even copy and paste the glyphs from the font into Xara, and get the flowing letters. However I CANNOT under any circumstances get Xara to show Glyphs on the capitals natively. Is it something I'm not doing or not setting? or is it an error within the program. I don't believe it's in the font, or I don't think I could copy and paste it.
Can anyone test this and see if you can reproduce the issue, please.

Works for me.
I added some text, highlighted it, selected Nightengale and then Stylistic Sets. As I select the different sets the characters change to reflect the selected set.

Ah I see what you mean. Caps do not reflect the styles. There are some if you use Character Map or the Microsoft Windows app which shows larger characters.
Re: Stylistic Font Sets ... BUG?
Yes, everything seems to work except the CAPS, as you say you can get them too work with other methods, but they should work "natively" in Xara ... shouldn't they?

If that font actually worked, the Caps use the Swash feature and is activated via the Ca button (Contextual alternates) and looks like...

But the Swash feature (swsh) is misnamed...

...and your Xara application needs the properly named feature. I fixed my copy.

How did you do that Mike?
Re: Stylistic Font Sets ... BUG?
Thanks Mike for the info.
and Yes ... I second Gary's question - How did you do that Mike?
Re: Stylistic Font Sets ... BUG?
I changed the malformed Swash feature name to a properly named Swash feature in a font editor, then recompiled the font.
There is no bug in Xara applications regarding this particular feature. The problem was in the font. The font author should be told about it. Just, er, leave my name out of it ;))

Re: Stylistic Font Sets ... BUG?
I left a message on fontbundles.net, to that effect, but don't think I can get directly to the author. Although I will try again.
