Making Backgounds transparent
Is there a way to import a graphic into Xara and change the white background to transparent so that when my graphic is placed onto (let's say a banner or box) the white backgound is now transparent?
I only know how to make the actual graphic transparent using your transparancy tool right now and haven't been able to find anything in your movies or help section that addresses this.

Hi Mavrik,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
Looking at you profile I see you listed Xara Xtreme as the software you are using. Which version of Xtreme?
Some versions have support for plug-ins and some do not.
Look at your tools along the left side of the window, if you see an icon that looks like a plug then your version supports the plug-ins.
Select your photo then the Plug-in Tool. On the Infobar click the New button and look for Mehdi. Click Mehdi then select Eraser Classic.
In the Eraser Classic dialog you can select the colour you want to make transparent. The dialog is pretty much self explanatory.
Re: Making Backgounds transparent
Thanks Soquili -- I've been using Xara for years and I didn't know how to do that! Wonderful!
There is just so much good stuff in this program. Maybe after Xara 7 is released we could get someone to write the definitive book on Xara...
Re: Making Backgounds transparent
Glad to help Jon.
Gary David Bouton's book "Xara Xtreme 5 The Official Guide" is very good and the information is applicable to Designer Pro 6. I'm sure it will apply as well to Designer Pro 7 when it is released later this year.
