Messing with backgrounds

Hi Everybody,

I have in mind a pasteboard background that would be capable of being tiled. The basic style of this background would be a bunch of contours like a map might look like.
Given that my artistic capability is more like an angry two-year old with a 12" paint brush, could someone direct me to a tutorial that might get me off on the right foot?

Paul, the trick is to achieve a repeating Tile in the first place.

Either cheat by searching for suitable images or Use Live Copies if your XDA has such or by hand as shown.
