Hello, Hope everyone is all good.
Heres my problem:
I create a xar project that includes text block or lines.
I convert the Xar file to AI ( Adobe Illustrator )
I open AI and I notice that the text does not sit as a text block but it
actually looks bunched up or as one long line going waaaayyy off the AI artboard.
Questions:
Is there something I need to do to avoid such a problem?
Is there something im missing here?
Can someone who knows about the Xar to AI conversion help me?
The text is importing into AI but not being interpreted correctly.
Try exporting to PDF and bring that into AI. PDF is one of Illustrator's native file formats and works better then passing files between the two programs.
Another thing you can do, make a copy of your original Xara document (in case you need to edit the text) and in the copy convert the text to editable shapes (or if you do not have this option in Arrange) Combine Shapes, Add Shapes. You will not be able to edit the text in Illustrator but it will import correctly as vector shapes.
Yes thanks, gwpriester, But I was trying to avoid from converting to editable shapes because im working on projects that AI users
may have to collaborate on. And editing text is part of it.
As far as PDF files, AI does utilize PDF files but does not open multi-page PDF's. It only opens one page. A major flaw in my eyes for Adobe and gives Xara a great advantage. And one would have to create Artboards out of each PDF page to accomplish this.
This takes unwanted time.
I as a Xara advocate, have had many debates with Ai and PS users about Xara as a professional program.
I have PS, AI, Affinity Photo, and Xara. Xara is by far the best in my eyes for speed and ability and is my goto program.
Perhaps Xara/Magix will look into this soon. This would be a beneficial thing for Xara.
This, and also transparency interpretation. These things get strengthened and Xara has gold.
I'll move this thread to Dear Xara where we can hope it will catch the eye of one of the Xara development peeps.

Export to pdf and import into illustrator.
