Windows 10 upage totally hosed the search feature
Not sure if this is just me but prior to the latest Windows 10 update, I could press the Window key, then type in any search phrase and find a list of installed programs or suggested web articles. Now when I do this I get nothing except a blank white search window.
Has anybody else experienced this? And if so is there a fix?

Still works for me. Maybe I should disable automatic updates?

I posted a question in the Windows 10 support forum. In the unlikely event that someone actually responds with a useful answer I will share here.

The first thing I would do is open a command prompt as admin and run the following commands one by one:
sfc /scannow
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
I right clicked on the Windows icon, selected Run, and entered these commands one at a time. The commands executed instantly. But,
Did not resolve the problem.
Did I do something wrong?
Re: Windows 10 upage totally hosed the search feature
Got a Windows 10 update a day or two ago and the search function is working fine for me. Apps, folders, web search and recent files all listed.

Yes, you need the cmd prompt:
Right click Start and choose Windows PowerShell (admin) then copy/paste the commands.
Or...you could see if the option to 'Update Now' is available to you. This takes a while (1 hour or so) but will rebuild the Windows system files and slap in any missing updates.

Gary, you may want to read this - you're not alone (although it didn't affect mine after that update)
