Root Files Xara Website Design Premium
I have Xara Website Design Premium. I used to use Serif Website Design. I used to save my website and upload it through Filezilla in Serif. I had the website file index.html. Serif also had two file folders wp generated and wp scripts where the html files of the web pages were located. In Xara Design Premium,I see :\Xara Serif\Web Designer Premium\Current Website\5 1 17.web. I don't see the html web pages files? Where are these located?
Thanks,
SB

SB, the *.web is your design file.
You have to export or Publish to get your HTML payload.
If you Export locally to a folder, in that folder will be an HTM file for each page and a folder of other assets.
If you kept the default naming the first file will be index.htm and the payload folder is index_htm_files.
You can force the application to export index.html instead.
If you have created a Supersite, it will only have an index.htm file in the root.
Xara has an inbuilt FTP function so you can use Publish rather than Export followed by Filezilla.
Either method is available.
It really helps to read the Help information.

Re: Root Files Xara Website Design Premium
Hi Tom, I believe if you are experiencing this it's because you've changed the root page filename from index to home.
By default Xara uses the root filename as index, it creates the root webpage as index.htm and the asset folder as index_htm_files.
However if you change the page file name from 'index' to 'home' it exports/publishes the site with a root name of 'home.htm' and the asset folder as 'home_htm_files'.
Similarly if you change the page file name from 'index' to 'any-name' it exports/publishes the site with a root name of 'any-name.htm' and the asset folder as 'any-name_htm_files'. This isn't advisable as browsers have a pecking order to find root html files like index.html, index.htm, home.html, as well as index.php etc. They won't serve up any-name.htm however.
I'd advise as a new user, just to stick to the default index.htm for the moment.

... and please keep your design files well away from the directory you are publishing to.
