PDF Export: convert Text into Shapes - WRONG TEXT CONVERSION !!
Hello,
I was preparing the PDF output for the external printer company, following his rules about the PDF format: CMYK , PDF/X-3:2002, no layers, NO FONTS EMBEDDING, and TEXT to Curves.
So I simply selected Export PDF, Commercial printing, format "PDF/X-3:2002", flagged "Convert text into shapes" in the PDF export dialog in Xara Designer Pro 6 and exported the brochure.
Surprise: the lowercase L are randomly bigger size, and create horrible text looking.
See the screen capture of the Adobe Reader at different sizes of ZOOM.
At the bigger zoom it is clear that "l" are different sized.... :-O
The font is simple ARIAL, nothing special.

- WHAT TO DO ?? :'(

Re: PDF Export: convert Text into Shapes - WRONG TEXT CONVERSION !!
This is a known Adobe Reader rendering issue and does not affect printing.
Re: PDF Export: convert Text into Shapes - WRONG TEXT CONVERSION !!
Convert text prior to export?
Re: PDF Export: convert Text into Shapes - WRONG TEXT CONVERSION !!
Don't worry Antimix,
it is simply a problem of Acrobat when displaying the file, it treats "l" or "I" as straight lines not as closed shapes and then it uses a different antialiasing algorithm.
As you noted the effects disappears as you zoom in.
The print quality will be OK.

There is an option in the Page Display preferences of the Adobe Reader, that reads Enhance Thin Lines.
Just switch it off you you will be happy with it (again).
bye:maak.
