Object Positioning
Hi all,
New to the forums but was wondering if anyone could advise on a issue which has always puzzled me in Web Designer and even in Xara X and Xtreme.
Why is it that a box or object will always come out as 99.7pixels instead of 100pixels or even 100.4pixels instead of 100pixels when trying to make a box exactly 100pixels. When I manually adjust to 100 dead the system will always reset to a part figure again.
Anyone got any ideas or am I missing something?
Regards
Phil.

Re: Object Positioning
Hi Phil and welcome to the Web Designer conference.
I just created a 100 x 100 pixel rectangle and it came out 100 x 100 pixels.
I am not sure why you are having this problem.
Try this: Create a rectangle any size. Then manually enter the Width and Height in the text entry boxes at the top of the screen and press Enter to apply the change.
Is the amount still in fractional pixels?

Re: Object Positioning
Hi Gary,
Thanks for your quick reply. I think I'm being really stupid somewhere as I can not seem to get that change toolbar as per your screenshot.
I am changing the size via the position toolbar as per my screenshot below. Each time the width or height is fractional of what I enter.

Thanks.

Re: Object Positioning
Oops.
Mystery solved. I was not double-clicking on the rectangle in order to invoke the change toolbar. I can then utilise the width and height boxes on this toolbar and all is well even though when back on the position toolbar the sizes are reported differently.
Many thanks.
Phil.

Re: Object Positioning
Glad you got it figured out.
Did you catch the .wmv movie above?
BTW, simply single-clicking the rectange displays the 'Size' option on the infobar.

Re: Object Positioning
The 'lock aspect ratio' button - to the right of the % symbols - looks like it's not activated. That can muck-up things too :)

Will go and have a play now.
