Using an existing drawing as basis for a new drawing
On occasion, I will take a drawing I've created and use it as a basis for a new, similar drawing. In this case, I've drawn a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 pickup by using an existing drawing of a 1949 Chevrolet Suburban. This eliminated having to draw the front, part of the cab, wheels and tires. A lot of work already done for me.
Of course, this requires the new drawing being at the same angle/view and also additional research to draw the various aspects of the pickup that aren't represented in the original drawing.
Oh yea, and the Suburban lowrider I posted earlier was developed from the Suburban also.

Re-purposing. Excellent time saving idea.

Well, GM did the same by creating a shared platform for different models. ;) Nice pickup, Ron!

Both versions look great Ron. Have you ever hot-rodded an older drawing?

Thanks, Ross.
Sure I have. Here's one example of a 1940 Ford Coupe. I posted this a long time ago, possibly in different colors.

Another great one Ron. Can you post the non-hod-rod version too?

Re: Using an existing drawing as basis for a new drawing
Thank you, Boy and Ross.
The factory color depicted here was called 'florentine blue'.
Both are older drawings, so they could use some updating, based on some techniques I've learned since then. We'll see when that will happen...

Ron - the florentine blue '40 Custom Coupe is beautiful. The 40's man was a nice touch.
