I wish I could say I did all this in
xara but I only used it to make the
circles and text - still it is very
fun! I will be using X for a lot of
compositing. The render was done in
Carrara. Kevin
PS does anyone know where i can get the
movies or is this just a broken button!

Thanks Dennis, maybe I can
absorb enough hanging around
here to at least do a good
job faking it

When you say Movies, do you mean Animations - as in Animated GIFs?
To un-grey out that toolbar, you need to be working on an "Animation" which Xara treats as a separate type of illustration file than a straight "Drawing" that you've used till now.
Just click File -> New -> Animation
Then the new and blank file that comes up is an "Animation" file, and the Animation TOolbar is enabled. Think of the animation as being a layer per frame, so Frame 2 is really a layer plonked on top of Frame 1 - that way you can build up an animation and also understand how the Frames gallery works in Xara. It's quite clever once you see what is going on, and it works very well.
Use the buttons on the toolbar to demo the animation, and then to export it as an Animated Gif (rather than just exporting a shape as a GIF, you export the whole animation) - you have control over the pallette for each frame, how long each one lasts for etc etc - everything you need.
Hope that gets you going enough to be able to utilise the whole power of Xara's animation - if you get stuck someone in this forum will always be able to help!

You can either dazzle em with brilliance or baffle em with BS! The latter works for me!
The movies that you're asking about, the tutorial movies? Chris had them here, I believe in the XaraXone but you had to buy Xara through i/us to access them.

would really like to see them!

The movies are on the Xara 2 CD. They are also on the Xara 1.5 CD. Some of them are available in the Xara Xone insider area, if you purchased Xara from I-Us you have access to this area...Regards, Joel

thanks Joel, unfortunately I bought it at
xara.com
I guess Ill cough up 6 more bucks and have
them send me a cd, but the xara site seems
to indicate it is from the 1.2 version --
how good those movies will be is the
question...

But, I think what I would do if you were me is wait about 2 weeks and buy XaraX through i/us. I would assume that those movies and more might be on the new CD. The movies were a great aid to me when learning the program. I still watch them occassionally. I just plop down with a little popcorn and watch away. Seriously, they're great!
