Question: Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes
Design Pro X9
Okay, I have lost or forgotten how to do something.
Combine Shapes>Interset Shapes.
1) I took 4 squares with the Geocaching Colors (example 1)
2) Cut to Circle to make a Pathtag (example 2) [believe I made the circle a Line Shape or Editable Shape]
(so I know I use to be able to do this)
3) Imported a Heart to Combine (Intersect Shapes) to further Combine (example 3)
4) I am not having any luck at succeeding at this point
What am I missing...???

Re: Question: Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes
Do you want the contents of the circle to be inside the heart or do you want the heart to drop out of the circle?
I'm having trouble understanding what it is you want to do.

Re: Question: Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes
If you create the 'heart' shape so that you can fill it, then place it over example 2 and press CTRL+4.
You will have cut out the heart shape from the circle and have both parts:
The circle with the heart shape cut out of it, the the heart shape filled with the four colours.
Hope I've understood the question?!
Example .xar attached.
Re: Question: Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes
It does work, so what I conclude is that your heart shape isn't properly closed and will not fill. So you might check that.

Oh boy wizard509, I am going to need Help with '... your heart shape isn't properly closed and will not fill.'
How do I check that? And, as Importantly, How do I Correct that?
(I guess back to Shapes 101 for me)
Thanks for the Help with this; AND, understanding what is wrong so I can Learn more about using Xara!
Tom

RIK you did better than I did explaining - #2 of your example is what I am after.
Is there a way to Keep the Outline of the Heart too? And, How did you do that (seems my Heart was not closed)?
Thanks, Tom

Re: Question: Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes
Hi Tom.
If you take the heart shape, you can use the 'Contour Tool' to get the result you want.
Use Contour Tool to extend outwards to desired level. Change number of steps to 1. Use the Arrange menu to convert to 'Editable Shapes' and then ungroup.
Delete the inner shape and colour the outer shape black.
Place this shape behind the heart with four colours.
How to make the heart shape, have both halves be the same and make sure that the shape is joined and can be filled?
Well, why not have a look at my signature and look at the tutorial called 'A Shield'.
