Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
Thanks in advance for any help. We have go live in 2 days and final site testing tomorrow.
I created a website last year using the Xara program. This month we created a small employee only, member log in site using WordPress since it wasn't offered with the Xara program. I have added a link from the main site (last years Xara site) but it's not going directly to the correct log in page. I suspect it's the WP site that is the issue but just want to be sure.
From my Xara site in the "Link to Web or Email Address" area I entered https://expert-employee.com/login/
But when you click that link I'm actually ending up at https://expertconstructioninc.com/employee-log-in.html which is not a working page.
I suspect the developer we hired to create the member log in did not complete it somehow but I really want to be sure that there isn't anything else from my Xara site that could be causing the issue.
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
I added the URL into a Xara page on a button and set up as you imaged.
It goes to the right site.
Please just press Ctrl+F5 in your browser to purge the local cache.
This should force out the bad link.

What I have found it wrong are the links in https://expert-employee.com/password-reset/ in the Footer.
I am sure there original links are all relative ones and works when the site is actually https://expertconstructioninc.com/.
As set up, they only every lead back to the Login page, a frustration I would not go live with.

Please go to https://expertconstructioninc.com/ and at the top right of the page click on Emp Log In. It should take you to https://expert-employee.com/login/ like the pic I attached before. But it doesn't.
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
I'm seeing the same thing you are mentioning. I get a page with user name and ID but no text entry windows.
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
If I hover over the link the status bar shows the incorrect URL, which means you aren't publishing the change that you think you are.
I did the same as Acorn and created a rectangle with the correct link and it worked just fine. The problem is definitely with the change not being published.
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
So, I'm not sure what that means then since I put the correct link in the Link Properties area. It decinetly has to do with my end from my Xara site correct? I don't understand what is needed to fis it.
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
This is me and not a super technical method.
I would move the link from the button (click 'Do Nothing') then publish.
Check the site to be sure the button actually does nothing.
Re-enter the link and publish again.
Check.
Are you publishing directly from Xara, or exporting and uploading with an FTP program?
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
Looking at the source of your Xara site your button has the following:
Quote:
<a href="employee-log-in.html" target="_self" onclick="return(xr_nn());">
So your alteration to the link is not being published, it still links back to the non-functioning Xar created page.
Are you clicking the Apply button? Does the link work correctly when previewed?
Re: Help Link not working - deadline tomorrow
I finally figured out what it's doing but still can't fix it.
I had created a temporary Employee Log In page on the Xara site last year, just as a placeholder page of sorts, and linked that Log In icon (top right of the site) to that temporary page. Even though I went in to that link and relinked it to the other website as the pic above shows, it is still linking that that temp page. So I deleted that page entirely, even went into the server and deleted that file. I deleted the link icon entirely and added it back … relinked it to the other website again and it is still linking to that temporary page. When I look in the at the Page & Layer Gallery I don't even see that page there. I cleared my cache several times through all this. I even went so far as to completely delete the website hoping to remove any trace of the page and reloaded it and the link still goes to that page.
That page is obviously stored somewhere. What am I missing?
