Problems with publishing: file in htm index that was removed from page!
So,
I have replaced an mp4 that I had on my site with a YouTube widget.
The problem is, though you can't see it, it still shows up on the bar during the FTP upload, and even worse, it gets stuck every time it gets to the mp4.
Is there a way I can look at all the files on the website and remove it?

Use xara hosting which is included with your product. You need to sign in with your Xara password.
It is a good way to preview a site online and/or to make it available for clients to see.

Yes, if you use an ftp program like Filezilla you can delete it from your server. If your using Xara's inbuilt Publish you can follow the procedure Gary points to (Magix server or any other) and hit Explore Web Space. From the resultant window you can delete or rename assets.

Then the mp4 isn't on your website, it's not been uploaded. You need to find it in your xar file & delete it.

Well, it must have been shrunk or turned invisible, because I don't see it anywhere.
Is there a good way to find it?

Look for a folder called xarainfo and see if it's camping in there. Mine's in my Pictures folder, but I tend to change default settings so that may not be where yours is.

That link is to a five-year old thread, so probably does not refer to your situation.

What filesize is/was the MP4?
If it was added to the Xara design then the sticking is probably because it is very big and your machine does not have enough RAM to handle it.
ChrisM's suggestion is probably the right one; another place to check might be in the %localappdata%\Temp\XaraTempSupportFolders\ folder. If so it is more likely be an MS Windows problem, retaining temp files. Don't delete everything, just the offending MP4 file.
I have just checked on my machine and the support folder disappears when Xara is closed, re-opens when the design file is opened and disappears when the MP4 is deleted form the design.
As you have discovered, it is far more sensible to add videos to YouTube and link that into your design.

It appears that unlike the way Xara removes text content & images that have been removed from a page it doesn't remove mp4 files. These stay embedded within the .xar file even though not visible any longer within that page. I do the same as Acorn suggests, publish your video file to your server and call them from there using an iFrame. I also do likewise for svg files.

Hey everyone!
The problem was solved by renaming and moving the file to a different location. I may not have good enough ram, 12GB, the video is 154MB.
I thought it strange that the program continues to look for the video after it is deleted . . . Does it do that for all files??
Anyhow . . . Since this forum and its members (thank you all) seem to be much more resourceful than Xara support, whom I have trouble getting in contact with, (12.99 for a phone call?? I must be confused . . .)
I lay before you yet more issues:
The site is up, everything seems to be working, but, I want to customize the meta.
Specifically, the thumbnail and message that is displayed when I share a link to the website via Facebook, text, etc.
I would also like to make a contact form instead of putting our cellphone numbers and email addresses directly on the website as I'm told that's dangerous.
Not sure how to go about doing those things.

I don't think so Braden. As pointed out earlier it's probably better to keep these mp4 files in a separate sub directory, not drag the mp4's into a xar/web file as Xara doesn't seem to delete them even after they're deleted from the page. I seem to remember this was also an issue with MP3 files.
Very clean site by the way but a bit to much animation for my liking ;)

Thank you, it's a tweaked "Lawfirm" template.
You're not the first person to say that about the animations, I was thinking about removing the reveal animations from the mobile site altogether . . .
What would you keep on the main?
